The cavity on the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine where the piston is placed. It is the track for the movement of the piston, where the gas burns and expands, and can also dissipate part of the residual heat of the explosion transmitted by the gas through the cylinder wall, so that the engine maintains a normal operating temperature. The types of cylinders are integral and single-cast. The single-cast type is divided into two types: dry and wet. When the cylinder and the cylinder block are cast as a whole, it is called an integral cylinder; when the cylinder and the cylinder block are cast separately, the single-cast cylinder barrel is called a cylinder liner. The cylinder liner that is in direct contact with the cooling water is called a wet cylinder liner; the cylinder liner that is not in direct contact with the cooling water is called a dry cylinder liner. In order to maintain the tightness of the contact between the cylinder and the piston and reduce the friction loss of the piston moving in it, the inner wall of the cylinder should have a high processing accuracy and precise shape and size.
